I am considering bying this stamp as a Sc# 10f ( Roul IV ) but an uncertain if
it is a Roul I ( sc#10f )
The depth of the perfs is between 1.25 to 1.50 mm
it's a well centered copy - better than any I have seen.

SV, I wouldn't even consider it. I don't think that's typical foxing -- it looks like serious mildew/fungal stains. Why risk your entire collection?

Secondly, it doesn't look like Type IV (#10f) to me. How did you/they measure the depth? They ALL have to be deeper than 1.25mm, not just a few of them. It looks like Type I (#10d) to me; best to look at the bottom teeth to see the "tongue" shape teeth of Type I rather than the "spade" shape of Type IV.

Regarding the depth, to be honest, some of the valleys look suspicious to me. Some of the "deeper" valleys look way too smooth at the bottom yet noticeably rough at the sides. One of the common forgery tricks for Type IV is to cut the valleys deeper and wider at the bottoms. Not saying that's what the seller did, just saying...

My non-professional opinion. And yes, you know I love the Finnish serpentines!

It is a friend of mine who asked me for help. I actually posted his text, because I am lazy.

I believe he is watching this post so he will see it, and I will link him to it.

Thanks Pal.

It's too easy to alter a stamp to increase the depth. The bottom line is the teeth are not the correct shape for Type IV. A couple of the teeth shape at top might pass for Type IV, but there will always be some variation. The majority of the teeth shape (especially at bottom and right) don't even come close to being Type IV shape.

It's easy to increase depth, but hard to make the tops "fatter". That's why I say Type I.

Stallzer, I didn't measure it, but your pic is a Type II or III -- I would guess Type II.
