Hi everyone, I am new to stamp collecting and my Knowledge is limited but I can usually find out the information I need through google but this one block of stamps has me stumped.

A correos Espana Stamp with VIVA FRANCO printed on it. This is an example of what stamp I am on about.

I have a block of four of these which have no perforation and still in Mint condition with a light hinge.

Why wouldn't these have been perforated and is this something which would increase the value ? If any one could help me out it would be fantastic, I will also post a scan of the stamp block tomorrow.

Cheers

They are called "Imperforate" and are produced quite often my many Countries. I'm not in front of a Catalog at the moment but I'm sure if you look deep enough into a Catalog you will find the listing for them.

PS, Welcome !!

This is completely subject to correction by someone with more knowledge of these Civil War issues, but I believe the Ayamonte city council asked for permission in 1937 to surcharge local mail to raise funds for economic assistance. (This was not uncommon during the Spanish Civil War.)

Most catalogues do not list the Civil War issues, which could run into the thousands of stamps, so values are hard to come by. If you don't have access to a specialist catalogue, you might strike out in looking for this.

It is possible that there is more value to this particular imperf block according to a specialist catalogue, but I do see perf and imperf versions of Ayamonte stamps floating around from time to time, and they don't seem to have very high selling prices, so I think most sellers are just guessing at these.

If you search for "Ayamonte" and "Spanish Civil War", you'll turn up lots of responses using Google. "Spanish Civil War" here should draw a few responses, too.
