Carebear, that's a really nice cover from Singapore. I have to say it's a much friendlier looking dragon than on the German stamp where Seigfried is showing his bravery. |

Please note I am now qualified and have earned my wings for exchanges. I have spare Christmas Island dragon M/S available if you would like a dragon cover or MUH. |

Here are images of a couple of engraved stamps depicting antique Chinese scientific instruments decorated with dragons, issued by China (People's Republic) on December 1, 1953, Scott Nos. 199 & 201, SG Nos. 1402 & 1404, plus detailed scans of some of the dragons. - nethryk Seismoscope, Han Dynasty, 132 AD Armillary Sphere, Ming Dynasty, 1437 AD |

I recall that one from somewhere back in the misty reaches of time and my memory. Weren't the balls in the dragon's mouths supposed to drop out when something happened? Like an earthquake in that direction or something?
Great stamp whatever it is! |

Puzzler - Glad you liked that one. BAYERN1kreuzer - Thanks for identifying the device. fifia - Your German stamp is a real dandy! Here is an image of a stamp depicting the Government Museum in Shuri and a dragon statue (not shown to scale!), printed by photogravure, and issued by Ryukyu Islands on October 6, 1966, Scott No. 148. - nethryk |

A jaberwocky perchance? Fifia, I like that Belgium revenue stamp a lot but it is a heraldic lion rampant (rearing) which a lot of royal houses used. Looks somewhat dragon-like I give you though. Below is the Canada 2012 'Transitional' souvenir sheet with the international rate $1.80 Dragon stamp and also lunch, the 2011 Rabbit stamp below. Strange and wondrous indeed. Both stamps have light-reflective, raised (embossed) parts to them and the '2011-2012' is embossed and reflective also as are all of this cycle's 'Year of' stamps. |

Isn't there a thread on heraldry and such? Lions, dragons, unicorns, tigers and what not drawn in a heraldic way? Maybe there should be? For a more detailed look at the Canada 2012 Year of the Dragon stamps (as they are scanned and posted) please see the thread: Canada 2012 Year of the Dragon with New items https://goscf.com/t/21800 |

hey that Korea souvenir sheet has hexagons on it! What year is that Fifia please? South or North Korea? The dragons look friendly like on some Japan stamps I have seen. Nice. |
