Trees On Stamps :

The Baroque stations of the cross in Heiligenkreuz is one of the most beautiful crosses in Austria. The road that begins East of the Abbey and goes up to a small hill is lined by old chestnut and Lindenbäume.
Monuments to the right and left of the road will help guide the faithful. The sculptures along the way comes from the workshop of Baroque sculptor Giovanni Giuliani, who visited the Cistercian Monastery with numerous sculptures. Extensive renovations in the years 1990-1993 saved the cross route system.

Jacobus Hendrik (Henk) Pierneef (usually referred to as Pierneef) (13 August 1886 – 4 October 1957) Pretoria, was a South African landscape artist, generally considered to be one of the best of the old South African masters. His distinctive style is widely recognized and his work was greatly influenced by the South African landscape.

Most of his landscapes were of the South African highveld, which provided a lifelong source of inspiration for him. Pierneef's style was to reduce and simplify the landscape to geometric structures, using flat planes, lines and colour to present the harmony and order in nature. This resulted in formalized, ordered and often-monumental view of the South African landscape, uninhabited and with dramatic light and colour.

RSA produced a set of 4 Maxi-cards in 1989 featuring his art - cancelled 3rd August 1989

Lebanon was a French protected territory until 1941 when it gained its independence. Stamps of France with an overprint were used for postage until 1925 when Lebanon issued its first stamp.
