Don't have my unitrade to see any special notes but scotts says July 16 1908. If you can scan a pic it would maybe give more clues. Sometimes a postal strike was not changed properly but thats quite a few days difference. Love to see it. |

As far as I know, this is called a "Predate" and is essentially when stamps have been used prior to public release. |

Hutin If you can email the pics you can get them up on here just about as easy. The add photo option requires pic size of under 100 but if you upload your photos to photobucket it allows you to easily add image code into your thread and voila its there and in full size. This is such a visual hobby and if you havethose 99's I'm sure you will have other items we would love to see. We'll help guide you along if any problems. |

i sent picture pf my strange cancelation to nitrolures. he can say that is not a lie; I sent too the first day of issue on #99 to him; extremely rare to find this July 16th, 1908 on #99 to 103...very rare...5 cents stamp was for registred letter so that explain the raity of FDI on this stamp |

Pics were very high quality but through PDF format so I couldn't figure how to switch them to JPG to post. On top of the FDI (first day issue ) the pre release date is a very nice SON clear cancel. Both stamps were/are very well centered which is rare for this issue in itself. |

if you want to convert them to a jpeg from pdf here is what to do. on the pdf there a icon of a camera click on it and them take a snap shot of the pdf, then open ms paint when you have this open click on edit then paste the photo will copy to the ms paint then save as a jpeg. with the camera you will want to left click at a corner hold the mouse down and drag across the screen once you have the image that you want release the mouse and the camera will snap the photo for you |

Nitro, if you have photoshop you can open pdfs in that, then resample to a lower resolution. |

Managed to open 1 but tried up sizing and it pixelated like crazy. Strange because the pdf I could expand 400-800 times and it was super clean. JPG image is only 98x109 pixels but file size is 600+Kb I'm confused on this one. |

Are you using Photoshop? When you open it make sure it creates the file resolution at 300 or better. It will ask you what resolution you want before it proceeds. I sounds like it's opening the jpeg as low rez (72ppi?) |
