So, I'm lucky enough to live in a small town in remote NE Montana, and I have an egg guy. A kindly gent who brings me a dozen fresh eggs for $2/ week, which is nearly what I pay at the grocery store for factory eggs.

I was having a hard time remember if I've paid him or not, how many weeks I'm behind or ahead, etc. He doesn't keep that close of account either. I also rarely see the guy as he often drops them off in my work fridge on Mondays while I'm at lunch.

Not being accurate bugs me, so I needed a way to remember better. At first I figured since I keep a daily calendar, I just need to make a note "EGGS", and cross them off when paid. But then I thought this was a good excuse to make a stamp that I can place in my calendar and when I see him, I'll have it and can cancel the stamps $PAID in my book.

Here it is:

It's based on Scott #312, and a fantastic proprietary label for matches I found featuring a chicken on a big auction house website. And a little digital ham-handedness. They should be in from the printers next week or so.

Now I need to make one for the lady that brings me fresh, un-messed with honey.

BTW being a lazy old git,
I would have tied a notepad and pencil
to the fridge, so he could write in the dates he delivered.
You cross off when paid.
Delivered googies at $2 a dozen, you got a good deal there my man.

in the egg-post.

Don't get me started on eggs! Our eggs have a good till due date that is four weeks away and they have been in transit for days since they were laid! When I was a yute I never eat an egg that was more than a few days old. Stale eggs will give you the runs!

Is there an error on that stamp!?!

Aren't the numbers on either side of the $2 denomination at the bottom shields supposed to read "20" and "12" and not "12" and "12" or are the "12"'s simply supposed to represent a dozen eggs?

Now all you have to do is make up some sheets of them and list them on ebay ... and you'd probably get $2 apiece for them, too (at least it would pay for your eggs!)

No, it's supposed to be 12 on each side for dozen eggs. I tried to make the empty middle scroll along the bottom to read ONE DOZ., but just didn't have enough to work from. It had said MADISON, but with the curve, etc. it was just nearly impossible to get it to work and look ok. I did have a 51 that was easy enough to convert to 12 in the smaller scrolls.

I did have one extra sheet of 20 printed, we'll see how they look. If they look good, I may offer them for swaps, and some photos of having them in use, so they're aren't purely fantasy. Heck, maybe the egg man will want them and he can have a few hundred printed up for his customers to keep track too.

I was just going to use the $PAID cancel I use on bills, but a dated EGG cancel could be cool. Hmmmm.

By the way, there is a 2012 already up top. It blends in pretty well, but it's easy to make 1902 into 2012.
