The Australia Blue Mountains Tree Frog stamp has two versions:

In the case of computer-vended stamps, when the same labels are used, but the vending machines (and their printers) have been upgraded/changed, then there will be new varieties.

The Mexico Folk Art definitive series was issued since 2005 with many reprints. These three $2.00 Black Mud Waterpot stamps bear the imprint of 2005, 2007, 2010.

The China 1942 Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Portrait Issue was printed in letterpress by the Central Trust Bureau in Chungking (Szechuan). The stamps were produced in large quantity with wide variations on paper quality, color, and perforation. The three 30c stamps shown here, for example, have color from orange yellow to orange red and paper from native to woodfree.

The low value (5c -75c) stamps of Singapore's 1985-9 Insects definitive series were first printed by Japanese Government Printing Bureau, Tokyo, Japan. Later, these stamps were re-printed by Leigh-Mardon Ltd., Melbourne, Australia. Both types are printed by offset lithography on unwatermarked paper, and perforated 13 x 13 1/2.

The reason for the minor differences in these printings is explained in the Stanley Gibbons Brunei, Malaysia & Singapore catalog: "Although the work of the two printers is very similar as far as shade, paper and perforation are concerned Leigh-Mardon used new printing plates taken from the original color separations and, in consequence, each value does differ from its predecessor printed by the Japanese Government Printing Bureau."

The Ukraine VII Definitive issue (2007-2012) uses microprints to mark stamps produced at different dates. The 2.00H glass jug stamps shown here bear microprints 2007, 2008, 2010-III, 2011, 2011-III, and 2012 at the lower right corner of each stamp.

Many modern Australia stamps are produced in two formats: sheet stamps with conventional perforation and gum (left) and coil or booklet stamps with serpentine die-cut perforation and self-adhesive gum (right).

Here are two different printings of the 55c self-adhesive, large-flower butterwort definitive of Ireland. Although each stamp is the same size, die-cut perforated 11 1/4, and tagged on the margins, there are many differences beyond the appearance of the purple color.

The stamp on the left was printed on a thicker paper which does not show brightness under UV light. Also, the shape of the die cuts are slightly different. The lettering on the right side extends to the height of the flower parts. This stamp was printed with traditional halftone offset screens.

The stamp on the right was printed on a thinner paper and is bright under UV light. The overall lettering is thinner, and the lettering on the right does not extend as far up the stamp. This stamp was printed with stochastic halftone screens.
