Hmmmm looks like dragon will eat the cute little anime bunny. Wonder if Canada Post will have joint issue with hong kong with this one included? |

lol, it is quite a contrast from the doey eyed bunny from last year - I like it tho!
Just had a peek on Canada Posts website, they finally have the new issues uploaded to the site, including Year of the Dragon stamps - sorry nitrolures, did not look like it was a joint issue with HK. |

To be honest, I think the whole issue is a bit silly. I find it very amusing that people are concerned that the "symbol of Chinese Imperial power" is too fierce ? I'd hate to think someone had a heart attack because I sent them a letter with a ferocious stamp on it ... Another news item: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asi...ina-16422945Kirk |

Regardless of what you think about China's Year of the Dragon Stamp, it has sold out faster than any other Chinese New Year Stamp in philatelic history ... now going for 7x to 8x face value on the secondary market: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stor...5226/1/.html Quote: Demand for it has been red-hot, with resale prices increasing seven fold within the same day.
China Post said its a phenomenon never before seen in philatelic history. |

Haha I think that dragon design is too stylised to look ferocious.. As for the going price, I see it listed on delcampe at a minimum $1.16 (over 6 times face) or $3.90 for a block of 4 Last year's cute bunny is only 46cents each..:) |

It is a sad situation that the brain-trust at Stamp Selection Advisory Committee continues issuing stamps which have little or no relevance to Canadian people, places or things. Yes, there are many people of Chinese descent in Canada; but, do we need a stamp for them EVERY year? Surely there are other ethnic peoples in Canada, and just plain Canadians, deserving of a stamp at least once. Canada Post's passionate, and what seems to be an unstoppable frenzy, to kiss up to China will no doubt result in a forthcoming stamp for that country which will be coloured nez-brun. Hopefully, it won't require licking. Here endeth the rant. |

The rabbit stamp was there because it was cancelled on the last day of the Year of the Rabbit (Jan 22 2012). The dragon stamp though was cancelled not the first day of Chinese New Year but the third day (Jan 25 2012). Not sure though why... |
