Hello, please correct me if I am wrong but I believe these are correct, (not forgeries). A couple have excess paper at the right which is stained....would you think it was OK for me to trim them that edge to improve the overall appearance? Best wishes, Brian....Machins

In my opinion, definately "NO".
I would leave them as they are. Some collectors like the extra selvedge.
By leaving them as they are, they are left in the original state that they were issued in.

Thanks to everyone for their input.....somewhere on one of the 4 online stamp boards I visit someone mentioned using very dilute peroxide / bleach?.....will definitely need to find the original posts and read up about it before using something like that. Best wishes, Brian.....Machins. |

machin, please understand that bleaching, even in the hands of an expert, is a very risky procedure. I have seen expensive stamps rendered worthless by doing so. Personally I do not see any reason to cut, trim, bleach or otherwise mutilate these issues. If there were mine, I would put them into Showgard or equivalent and mount in my album. In other words, protect and display them as they are. |

ncbuckeye, thanks for your advice. Will do as you suggest. I am going through one of my extremely rare periods of trying to bring order to the further reaches of my collection / accumulation.....the more mainstream issues such as GB machins etc tend to take up most of my time.
Best wishes,
Brian.....Machins.

I certainly wouldn't trim these until you have them definitely identified as genuine. The extra margins should help to plate them, and so demonstrate that they are OK. Without the margins, it could be more difficult, or perhaps even impossible, to be positive about them. |
