Hi All

I was wondering if any other SCF member has come across anything like this regarding "Empire Day"? I cannot find much on the internet about it.

I've never seen it before, but it is a nice piece of WWI memorabilia.

For whatever it's worth, I did find this description of the organization that issued the certificate, known as the Overseas Club:

The Overseas Club still exists and is now called the Royal Over-Seas League:

Thanks all for your input here

A few years ago I was lucky enough to buy a large collection of Canadian WW I correspondence (many military) and mainly from one family and this item was among them.

I have some nice items in my collection and hopefully will be posting the images sometime soon.

Interesting and thanks for the up-dates.

The collection I was referring to earlier consisted of close to 1000 covers all from WW I and mainly from one family! Some covers were tatty but a great deal were in good shape.

From the different Field and Army Post Office cancellations, I can trace a lot of the family whereabouts on most of the times of the war.

This particular "Empire Day" memorabilia sheet was also among them.

No need to worry about that. I agree, it is definately a keeper.

In the collection I referred to, there were also two covers from Canadians who were part of the Siberian Expeditionary Forces there. Those are the 2 prized covers of the collection.

When I was offered the collection, I at first couldn't believe the overall content. great covers and cancellations and all WW I era

I tried to arrange everything in chronological order too.

Gee, I thought the United States played a minor role in The Great War...

What gives with the absence of shading on the good ole USA?

British Allies were shown on the map in white (or without shading), thus the US was shown that way.

The United States did not enter into the war until 1917 therefor the neutral shading is accurate.

Yes, the organization was for the "Empire" only which included the Crown colonies and Commonwealth countries.

All of the allies were included in the map according to the shading.
