I need some help in knowing what to do with a Stamp Album I just found among some family items. Or how to value it. Or what to do with it.

It is called a Discover Album - Around the world with postage stamps. The inside cover has H.E. Harris & Co., Boston. Copyright 1934.

Inside the book there are stamps from many of the countries. Some seem to be stamped and others are just plain stamps. China, Congo, Australia, Cuba, Belgium, France, Greece, Great Britain, Germany, Poland. Are just some of the stamps that are in it. It seems that there are quite alot.

What should I do with this?

The HE Harris Discoverer album was one of the top sellers of it's day. If you can take some high resolution pictures or scan a few of the pages we can get you into the ballpark as for it's value. Keep in mind that there is a good chance there is little of value in the album, but you never know. Or you can check out the Scott's Stamp catalog from your local library and start doing some research.

First off, welcome to SCF!

This question comes up quite often, and there are many threads on this site that can offer great advise. But first, relax! It is important to understand that letters were the only means of communication prior to the modern age, and as such, stamps were issued by the billions upon billions.

Second, try to take some high resolution photos and post a few at a time on this thread. SCF consists of members from all over the world who, when not looking at stamps, love looking at pictures of stamps. You will have no trouble getting a fair assessment of your stamp collection.

Cheers!

Brian

Is this the album you are referring to?

If that's the case, then even with the stamps it worth 5-10 dollars.

Maybe, just maybe, there are some good stamps inside, but the chances are little.

Reenietalk, welcome. The first thing I would be sure of is that no one you know, including yourself, would like to collect stamps. Then follow some of the threads here that give advice to people that inherit collections and also shoot us some pictures and we might have some ideas, but most of all WELCOME! - Jeff
