Looking forward to a bunch of new issues in celebration of QE II Diamond Jubilee....I think. CP is releasing some older QE II issues but with the new postal rate. Haven't paid for Christmas yet.

It would be nice to see some older designs return
but it will probably be with high values and
souvenir sheets

Anything will be better than the sheet from Great Britain.

Here is the link to these new designs by Canada Post. They actually made the news last night as they did a big unveiling yesterday! Stamps made the news, who would have thunk it!

I see Canada has followed Britain's example (or is it coincidence?) with issuing stamps on stamps.
Though I have to admit, this one is kind of fun.

I hope it is only fun james ! The queen looks like she is about to explode on the right hand vignette !

Ouch and ......absolutely gross !

I beg your pardon, your Majesty. They didn't mean it.

Why 2 dollars? Why not first class rate and circulate it
around the country.

I think the 2 dollars have to do with 1952-2012 and Elizabeth II.

alanl : Why 2 dollars

This is from the Canada Post website:

About the $2 stamp

In 1897, the Post Office Department of the Government of Canada celebrated the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria—the only other Monarch of Canada to achieve the 60-year milestone—with an engraved stamp. The design featured a portrait of the young queen as well as one created at the time of Queen Victoria's 60th anniversary. This stamp remains a classic for collectors. This stamp mirrors the design of the 1897 Queen Victoria stamp. It's engraved and printed in a similar purple colour, and features an image of a young Queen Elizabeth II facing a more recent photograph of Her Majesty. Available in a full pane of eight stamps.
