Zimbabwe 1990

Between 1952 and 1981 Finland issued 3 sets of four stamps depicting buses for use on parcels carried by postal buses. Since these stamps were for domestic/internal use only, they carried no country name. The stamps were made into booklets, and used /sold from this format.

From Facit Special catalog, "Initially the stamps were stuck directly on the parcels and were not sold to the general public. Later the stamps were pasted on waybills. For philatelic use they could be bought at the Philatelic Section in Helsinki...It is only since 15 March 1963 that stamps for parcels carried on post buses were freely sold at all post offices."

On January 1, 2000 Guernsey issued a set of 5 "Millennium" stamps. The designs are based on winners of the island's children's stamp contest on the subject. The low value 20p stamp (Sc#703) shows "Space Bus" by Fallon Ephgrave, age 9.

I can give you something from the Isle of Wight, is that OK !

When I was a child, in the Barcelona of the early 60's, we used to have "Imperial" (duble-decked) buses, trams and trolleys. In 1999 to commemorate the 75 years of Barcelona's umderground, there was issued a series of 63 cinderellas (in 7 sheets) showing the history of our city's public transport. Some of them show DD busses, trolleys & trams:











Obviously, as I was born in 1959, I just can recall the bus shown on cinderella 44.

The stamp set depicts Reo Bus (Birkirkara), Dodge T110L (Zabbar), Leyland Comet (Zurrieq), Ford V8, (Zebbug-Siggiewi), Bedford SLD (Gudja-Ghaxaq), Mail Bus (Gozo), Federal Bus (Kalafrana), Dodge T110L (Siggiewi), Austin CXD (Zejtun), Indiana bus (Rabat).

On February 4, 1987 Finland issued a set of 2 stamps (Facit 1011-2) commemorating the centenary of the Tourist Federation of Finland. The 2.30 mark high value includes a tour bus in its design.

These September 17, 1949 issues depicting a postal bus are from the French Zone of occupation of post-WWII Germany. They commemorate the 100th anniversary of postage stamps in Germany.

The travelers on this 1960's era Austrian cinderella are looking at their vacation trip brochure which has a postbus on its cover. The inscription says, "The best decision for all journeys: we travel by postbus."

Scott 1027 commemorates the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Danish Jews from concentration camps at the end of World War II
