National anthems are symbols of national identity and pride. Their origin often coincides with significant historical periods - revolutions, declarations of independence, or wars - when nations feel a need to express their unity and values.
I believe we can find a wealth of philatelic material related to them: lyricists, composers, anthem texts, musical scores...

Slovenian National Anthem
The lyrics of the Slovenian national anthem are the seventh stanza of the poem Zdravljica by Slovenia's greatest poet, France Prešeren, written in 1844. The poem was set to music in 1905 by Stanko Premrl (1880–1965), and in 1990, it officially became the Slovenian national anthem.

Nice to see new thread with a very unusual topic, thanks.

Hatikvah" ("The Hope") is the national anthem of Israel. Its lyrics were written in 1878 by the Jewish poet Naphtali Herz Imber, expressing the deep yearning of the Jewish people to return to their ancestral homeland and live as a free nation in Zion (Jerusalem). The anthem reflects the spirit of Jewish national revival. "Hatikvah" was adopted as the official anthem of the Zionist movement in the early 20th century and became the national anthem of the State of Israel in 1948.

Here is SS issued by Israel in 2008 about the Hatikvah anthem. Note the stamp is unusual and has a shape of Magen David, the Star of David.

On the margin, the two first anthem's paragraphs.

As long as in the heart within
A Jewish soul still yearns,
And onward, towards the ends of the East,
An eye still gazes toward Zion;

Our hope is not yet lost
The hope of two thousand years:
To be a free people in our land,
The land of Zion and Jerusalem.

"Auferstanden aus Ruinen" ("Risen from Ruins') was the national anthem of East Germany DDR written by Johannes Becher (1891 – 1958), poet and minister of culture. Here is a maxicard issued in 1971 shows Becher.

To commemorate the 1st anniversary of the death of Becher, DDR issued a stamp with a tab bearing the first stanza of the national anthem.

From the ruins risen newly,
To the future turned, we stand.
Let us serve your good weal truly,
Germany, our fatherland.

The music for the anthem was composed by Hanns Eisler (1898 – 1962), a German-Austrian composer. He depicted on a stamp issued in 1968.

From Government of Canada website

https://www.canada.ca/en/canadian-h...-canada.html
"O Canada" was proclaimed Canada's national anthem in 1980, a century after it was first sung in 1880. The music was composed by Calixa Lavallée, and the French lyrics were written by Adolphe-Basile Routhier.
While many English adaptations of the song were written, the English lyrics adopted in 1980 are based on a version written by Robert Stanley Weir in 1908.
These lyrics were modified in 2018, when legislation was passed to change the English lyrics. The line "True patriot love in all thy sons command" was changed to "True patriot love in all of us command," in order to make the lyrics gender neutral.

When I was in primary school in the fifties we had to sing to God Save the Queen
every morning and I really didnt like it.
Neither did others and some were singing God shave the Queen

The Star Spangled Banner, the flag:

The man--

Added the words as the poem "The Defence of Fort McHenry"...

With music became the song The Star Spangled Banner about the flag which was the actual Star Spangled Banner...

Quote:
Complete version of [The Defence of Fort McHenry] "The Star-Spangled Banner" showing spelling and punctuation from Francis Scott Key's manuscript in the Maryland Historical Society collection.

O say can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight
O'er the ramparts we watch'd were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bomb bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there,
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream,
'Tis the star-spangled banner - O long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a Country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footstep's pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
O thus be it ever when freemen shall stand
Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation!
Blest with vict'ry and peace may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the power that hath made and preserv'd us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto - "In God is our trust,"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

400 Years of the "Wilhelmus"
NVPH 908

The song honouring Wilhelmus of Nassau, Prince of Orange is a French melody with Dutch text by an unknown person. It is believed the text was written by Filips van Marnix van Sint-Aldegonde.

The song, a "Geuzenlied," dates to 1568 - 1570, the beginning of the Eighty Years' War of Independence. Wilhelmus of Nassau became the figurehead of the revolt against King Philips II of Spain, Sovereign Lord of the Netherlands.

It is among the oldest songs that is a national anthem. It became the national anthem in 1932.

Here is an interesting Set. I am not certain but I don't believe that any other country has issued a stamp which has their Anthem in audible record format. The Royal Bhutan Anthem is on the 25ch value with the others being Folk Songs and some brief narrated history. The anthem was created in 1953 and is called, in their language, "Druk Tsenden". According to Wikipedia, this translates as The Thunder Dragon Kingdom.

German National Anthem

The German national anthem consists only of the third stanza of the Deutschlandlied by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben, written in 1841.

Lyrics and notes of the anthem

An Austrian composer, Joseph Haydn, wrote the melody in 1796-97.
