The script reminds me of Arabic or some Indian type of thing but then I saw, in the bottom right corner, a castle or rook type of thing that was in the center of an Indian States stamp Tony showed in his big thread on the states.
I could be wrong too. Lovely design of a stamp though. Quite Muslim with it's avoidance of any real thing or person.
This is a tough one. The overprint is definitely Arabic. But I'm thinking the denomination 1 pe suggests Burma. The problem with that being there are no Arab speaking countries nearby to suggest occupation or influence. Lovely arabesque design on the stamp itself. Possibly a local service or revenue? Intriguing.
I am looking right at a catalog (albeit an old one) and I would have missed this identification even when looking right at it. There is just too much going on with the design/overprint for me to have identified it accurately.
Thanks for the help.
(NOTE: I changed the title of this thread to identify the stamp!)
