Nukui Dam is a concrete arch dam on Takiyama River 40 km north of the city of Hiroshima. It is 156 m inheight and 382 m in length, with two hydroelectric power stations 2 km downstream from the reservoir. The reservoir and the surrounding area is well known for hot springs, azalea flowers, and autumn foliage.

Inauguration of the Paute Hydroelectric Project

The Paute Dam is the largest hydroelectric dam in Ecuador. The arch gravity dam is located on the Paute River, 125 kilometers from Cuenca. The Molina Power Station has a capacity of 1,075 megawatts.

Vajont Foundation

The Vajont Dam is a 262 m-high concrete arch dam in the valley of the Vajont River under Monte Toc, 100 km north of Venice. The dam was completed in 1959. On October 9, 1963, during initial filling, a massive landslide caused 50 million cubic meters of water overtopped the dam, leading to the complete destruction of several villages and towns and 1,917 deaths. The disaster prompted attention to the environmental protection in the Alpine mountain region. The dam was unused and now serve as a tourist attraction.
The brown area on the left bank of the lake was the site of landslide.

Victoria Dam is an arch dam located 209 km upstream of the Mahaweli River's mouth. Its main purposes are irrigation and hydroelectric power production. It is the tallest dam in Sri Lanka, and supports a 210 MW power station, the largest hydroelectric power station in the country.

Karnaphuli Dam
Kaptai Dam is an earth-fill embankment dam on the Karnaphuli River at Kaptai in Rangamati District. The primary purpose of the dam and reservoir was to generate hydroelectric power. Construction was completed in 1962. The generators in the 230 MW hydroelectric power station were commissioned between 1962 and 1988.

Definitive Issue
January 26, 1955
Tilaiya Dam, opened in 1953, was the first of the four multi-purpose dams in the first phase of the Damodar Valley Corporation. The concrete gravity dam, 30.3 meters high and 366 meters long, was constructed across the Barakar River, at Tilaiya in Koderma district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. The hydroelectric power station has an installed capacity of 4 MW.

The Capanda Dam is a concrete gravity dam on the Kwanza River in Malanje Province. The hydroelectric power station, with four 130 MW Francis-type turbines, was commissioned between 2004 and 2007.

The Guri Dam is in Bolívar State, on the Caroni River. The 7,426 meters long, 162 m high concrete gravity and embankment dam opened in 1978. Its hydroelectric power station, ranked among the largest power station, has an installed capacity of 10,235 MW.

Macagua Dam: The Macagua Damn is an embankment dam with concrete gravity sections on the Caroní River in Ciudad Guayana, Bolívar State. It is 81 km downstream of the Guri Dam and 22 km downstream of the Caruachi Dam. The hydroelectric power station, inaugurated in 1961, has an installed capacity of 3,167.5 MW.

The 10th Anniversary of the Restoration of Austrian Independence
April 27, 1955
Limberg Dam is located in the Salzburg Alps, 12 kilometers south of the town of Kaprun. The 120 m high concrete arch dam was completed in 1951. The dam and the Kaprun power plant became symbols of post-war reconstruction of the country.
