Czech Republic Technical Monuments - The Flaje Dam May 15, 2013 The Fláje Dam, built between 1951 and 1963, is a pillar-style valley dam, unique in the Czech Republic. It is located in the Krušné Hory region bordering Germany. The dam was built with concrete and rock from local quarry.  |

Algeria Saharan Public Works February 22, 1969 Djorf Torba Dam is in Kenadsa District, crossing the Oued Guir about 50 kilometers west of Béchar. It is used for the purposes of irrigation and water supply. The area around the head of the dam features a number of notable ancient monuments.  |

Gabon Hydroelectric installations at Kinguele June 19, 1973 The Kinguele Dam is located on the Mbei River. It is mainly for freshwater storage and hydroelectricity. The first phase of the hydropower project with 20 MW capacity was completed in 1973 to supply electricity to the paper pulp factory in the nearby town of Kango.  |

South Africa Opening of Hendrik Verwoerd Dam March 4, 1972 Gariep Dam (originally Hendrik Verwoerd Dam) is an arch-gravity dam on the Orange River near the town of Norvalspont, bordering the Free State and Eastern Cape provinces. Its primary purpose is for irrigation, industrial use as well as for power generation. Its hydroelectric power station has four 90 MW turbines.  |

Rhodesia Water Conservation - Bangala Dam July 19, 1965 Bangala Dam is an arch dam which lies in southeastern Zimbabwe on the Mutirikwe River. It was built to provide irrigation water to the farming estates on the lowveld to the southwest. The dam was inaugurated in 1963.  |

Malaysia Opening of the Temengor Hydroelectric Power Station September 19, 1979 The Temengor Dam is a concrete arch dam located on Perak River about 200 km northeast of Ipoh. The hydroelectric power station has 4 Hitachi turbines of 87 MW installed capacity.  |

Dominican Republic Inauguration of Valdesia Dam January 26, 1976 Valdesia Dam is located on the Nizao River 16 kilometers west of Santo Domingo. The concrete gravity dam supplies irrigation water to the costal area. The power station has a generation capacity of 54 MW.  |
