I am about to trade and get what is claimed to be a single Unitrade 41b (imperf)

The quality of the following image is so-so. I received it as a PDF format which was converted into JPG.

Either someone has cut the impoerforated pair in half, OR, done a real good job of cutting the perfs off maybe from #41

From here, is it possible to determine if this is a #41b or a fake?

It is possible to get it authenticated. Take it to the APS, preferrably before you pay the money. From the scan I would say it is 99.6% certain to be a fake.

Hi koala
This stamp is cut very close on the left and bottom. I strongly suspect that this is a "jumbo" single that has had the prefs trimmed. I have been burned in the past and it is now my policy that I do not purchase imperf singles under any circumstances.

Gportch, I have same philosophy. imperf must be in pairs to confidently positively absolutely confirm without a doubt they are indeed true imperf

I would also vote "trimmed". Keep in mind that if there is this much doubt, there will be the same doubt if you wanted to eventually trade or resell.

'as soon as there is a doubt, back off' said grand'Pa.
With your comments, my doubt are even more confirmed ... no trade!
Thanks friend

I agree Koala

I recently purchased what was said to be an imperf and when it arrived it had definite remnants of perfs. Because I didn't pay much for it I let it go and gave the seller the benefit of the doubt. I'll be more cautious in the future.
