This deer stamp (S.G. #1895) is from a $4.00, single-pane booklet of 10 different "farm animal" designs issued by New Zealand on October 2, 1995 after the domestic letter rate had dropped from 45 to 40 cents.

Deer are not native to New Zealand, but today seven species can be found on the islands. They are: elk, fallow deer, red deer, rusa deer, sambar deer, sika deer and whitetail deer.

On November 15, 1977 the DDR issued a set of six "hunting" stamps. The two low values (Mi. #s 2270-1) of this set are animals appropriate to this thread. The 10 pf stamp depicts a group of mouflon (Ovis ammon musimon), and the 15 pf value shows a red deer buck (Cervus elaphus).

Stylized reindeer are shown on these three stamps (SC #s 1018o, 1018e, & 1018j) from The Netherlands's 1998 "December" discount stamp sheet. The sheet contains 20 different designs/stamps.

A Corsican red deer (Cervus elaphus corsicanus) is depicted on this stamp of Italy. It one of a set of four, 500 lira Wildlife Conservation stamps issued on October 10, 1991.

This 20 naira, 1993 Nigerian stamp (SG #654) is from a set of four featuring wildlife. It depicts a pair of roan antelopes.

Bob's Roan 1993 Roan Antelope Nigerian Scam Forgeries

The Nigerian scam forgeries are interesting. Nigeria has been plagued with many problems for a long, long time. As an elementary school age stamp collector I received solicitation letters from Nigeria. If you peruse ebay's listing of modern Nigeria, you will see a large amount of printer's waste offered for sale.

Here is another Nigerian roan antelope stamp. This one is the 30 k value (SG #600) from the November 8, 1990 set of four Wildlife stamps.

On August 20, 1971 South Viet Nam issued a set of two Wild Animals stamps. The 9 dong value (Sc #396) depicts a sambar buck and two does.

Here is Canada's 80c definitive stamp of December 28, 1990, depicting a Peary caribou (Rangifer tarandus Peary). There are several perforation varieties of this stamp. This one gauges 14.5 x 14 (Sc #1180c).
