It would be interesting to create a web site based on this "stamp community's" covers...Our very own.

I have already created a web site called "Canadian Stamp Oddities" that I am having a little trouble trying to publish..I am still working on it.

North Inverness, Canada East 1850



Chatham, Ontario - 1853 (Paying 6 Pence Stirling to cover "Cross border" rate



Madoc, Upper Canada paying 3 Pence Stirling for Domestic rate. Note the close similarity to Wert's avatar - almost anyway

Bujutsu...Love that "Crown lands" cover, very very nice.

Now if we can just more guys from the stamp community to add to this post we could see the vast amount of variety that Canadian covers offer to the world.

Well, since the Avitar of mine says what I collect, this is my oldest
piece of Postal Stationery. GB # B3b.
Front postmarked with number "3" which is Whetstone. On rear are 2 clear route markings, a "Bath" Dec 25, 1844 and a London Dec 26, 1844.
So here is my contribution to the discusion thread...

PoStat4evR...Excuse my ignorance...How could I leave out our American friends....All American covers are welcome on this post, and of course Canadian as well.

Like that seal on the back...I have one nearly like that also.

Bujutsu...Does the second cover have a "1831" date on it, or am I going blind..???

bwdavis...Did you cut it off a cover or is that how you got it...What am I saying, no one would cut a corner postage off a cover..Forgive me, I lost my mind there for a second....

The cover is from 1851

However, here is a goodie even older. I have also unfolded the letter that gives the date as well - 1829! This is a Canadian 'manuscript' cancellation. I can't find information on this post office. Maybe I am wrong and it is Raleigh, S.C. (??) My reasoning for thinking this is Canadian is because the address is Chatham, Ontario right on the letter content itself.

I don't think we will see many older than that one....

This one is not that old, but kinda neat..It is from the "Bank of British North America".

Now, this cover from "1891" is not terribly old but look at the cancellation...Just a big "X" done with a pen or pencil...???
