Yes, I agree with the other posters - in general, it looks real nice, but it needs to be more compact. I can see only one item at a time on my computer. Much dead space between the description and the item image.
And a home page with all the basics would be nice.
You do indeed have a great start on it, though.
Hope the development goes well.

I like the "look and feel" of the site, very much. Not a lot of clutter and "blinking lights."

A couple of comments (in a "former life," I worked in web and software usability):

Although I expect many people will find your site through google and other search engines, you will also be giving lots of links to your FRONT page. That is your single MOST valuable real estate. I agree with others who've suggested getting more images on your front page... I'd suggest you experiment with getting a 3x3 grid (i.e. 9) of images (items) to show, when people land on your page. If there's a way to tweak the code so the front page displays your "premium" items (you could set that up as a non-visible/visible-only-to-you category), it would be better still.

You have about THREE SECONDS to to have people either want to stay and explore, or move on (also known as a "bounce") to something else.

Second-- which relates to the "space usage" issue-- I think your nephew has the displayed screen width set to 1000 pixels. As of this writing, 85% of monitors display 1280 pixels wide (or higher), and I think you'd do well to bump the width setting to at least 1200px. The site will still "float" in the center of users' screens, but you'll have a little more real estate to work with.

Third-- I like that you can click on the items for a larger image... BUT, have your nephew code those image links with "target=blank" parameters so they open in a new window; preferably, as a fixed size pop-up. You're going to lose people who will just "close" the image window, rather than go "back one" to return to your site.

The "item detail" pages are really nice. Keep it (to the extent possible) so everything shows on the page without scrolling. DO make the image on the detail pages clickable/enlargeable as they are on the front page.

I think "AllStamps" is a really good name. To me, that means everything to do with stamps: Loose stamps, stamps on paper, stamps on cover, pictures of stamps, stories about stamps... ALL about stamps.

Is your nephew using a "canned app" to build your site, or is he coding it from scratch? Or "leveraging code" from a shopping cart/ecommerce app? I ask because I've been looking at building a stamp e-commerce storefront, myself.

Good luck and much success to you!
~Peter

Thanks again everyone for you comments. I have passed them along. Sounds like ALLSTAMPS is going to be it and we need to crunch the number of views per page. Other suggestions by all are being kicked around. I appreciate ALL the help and ALL the suggestions. Please any more that come to mind will be appreciated. Thanks for your support - Jeff

Jeff,

The second I saw your website it reminds me of Paul F. Moore website which is one of the best dealer website I saw. I thought you would like to view it. Maybe you know it already.
