Now since I have made steady headway filling my Mystic Heirloom Albums I though a review is in order.
The set comes with three binders and the most recent supplement for 2007. The binders are close to a hunter green trimmed in gold lettering and the pages are an off white and the paperweight is a nice weight.
The flat layout design of the binder uses a three-ring set up that resembles most three ring binders. I feel this is a better option than the traditional post style. The page layout is very nice with stamps being place only on one side; the back is reserved for printed information about the stamps. The spaces for the stamps are well detailed along with the Scott catalog number for the stamp.
The years and placement of the stamps is one of the best that I have in my collection. There is even extra room if you want to add an additional stamp beside the original stamp space. For example I place a MNH stamp in the correct space. In addition I added a nice cancellation of the same stamp on the page without take up another space for a stamp.
I have filled book one with MNH stamps in mounts from 1928 to 1970 including the souvenir sheets and just a few of the definitive for those year. This is about all the space the binder can handle when using mounts. So I would make sure to purchase additional binders so that you don't' damage the pages due to an overfilling binder.
That isn't a big deal because with my order I received an order form for additional binders at only $6.00 so I have ordered three additional binders only.
I hope this little review is helpful for those look for new USA Stamp Albums.
Personal Rating
Binders = A+ Pages = A - ( I still would of like a little more paperweight Layout = A (Personal choice would of combined a few of the early years on one page) Price = A+ ( Great value without cheating on quality.) Supplements = -A (The 2007 replaces pages so you will have to remount stamps because some pages combined with the 2006 year) Usability = A++ You can not help but have fun using this collection of Albums. They are design to be open and viewed.
Who is the set geared to? I feel it is a must have for a beginner and it would work well up to those who prefer a different design such as hinge less albums. I consider myself an advance collector of MNH stamps and it works fro me very well. However it is the same set I bough for my daughter age 12 to start her collection.

After being out of the collecting business for several years, I have returned and decided to give the Heirloom album a shot. I am very pleased with it and am making some progress in mounting stamps in the three volumes. I can already see that my favorite is going to be volume 1, since I love the early years of US stamps. My goal this time around is going to be to get some of the stamps I never owned.
As I intimated above, I have already put together two US collections and sold them in my collecting years. THere were always some stamps I never owned, primarily because of cost, and this time around I am going to get a couple of them. A US number 1 is high on the list. |

I have the Heirloom and Heritage albums and really like the lay flat binders, uniform look, reasonable priced annual suppliments, and informative pages. On the other hand, the stamps can be a bit overpriced (which I figured out much later) from Mystic. Also, the profit sharing program is a nice bonus. |
