Anyone ever buy these things? Are they good? How do they compare to the USPS issued books?
If anyone owns one, could they send me a scan of a page or two?

hi apastuszak
When I was collecting US I bought the first 3. They have a wealth of information that the USPS publications do not have. If you collect modern US they could be informative and helpful. If not, look at some of the other Linn publications.
Unfortunately I do not have a scanner so I cannot show any pages.

Linn's has put a ton of the old ones on sale for as little as $8.95. I was thinking about picking some up. I was going to start with the 2000's.
My kids were born in 2001 and 2003, and I bought my house in 2001. Pretty much everything went on hold. I watched almost no TV, mothballed the stamp collection, didn't listen to any new music, and couldn't tell you about any movies in the 2000s.
My kids are now at an age where I can actually do stuff with them that interests me as well, and I looked back on the 2000s and realized I have a lot of catching up to do, including the stamps that were issued and why they were issued.
I was a member of the standing order subscription program for the USPS, and I found all the US Priority Mail envelopes from 2000, 2001 and 2002 sitting in a box unopened in my garage.

So, I broke down and ordered 2000 and 2001. They were $8.95 a piece from amos press. Shipping was $6.99 whether I got one or two of them. So, I figured why not two. |

So, I got my 2000 and 2001 year books in the mail today. The level of detail is insane. It think it's more information than I need. I'll snap some pictures of one stamp and post, just so everyone can get an idea of what you get in the book. |

Well, I bought the paperback and it's proving impossible to scan without damaging the binding. I'll try taking some photos, just so people get an idea of the detail in the book. At $8.95 a copy on sale now, how can you go wrong?
I already sent an email to AMOS asking for some eBook version of these books I could stick on my iPad. I really don't need MORE books on my bookshelf, and with the 2009 Scott Catalogs on my iPad, I really like having one device on my table while working with stamps that has all the reference material I need. |
