Years ago, a stamp dealer named Lance Limoges published a "learner's album". IIRC, it was based on an earlier album someone else published, and it was supposed to be a very challenging introduction to the hobby.

Does anybody know if this album is still available?

It would seem an album like this would be a natural for the age of downloadable files.

My guess is it's out of print by now, as very little comes up in a web search or on ebay. I did, however, come upon this NY Times article from 1992 which described the album you are referring to:

I had never heard of the Limoges Learn Album, either. The album doesn't appear to be in the APS's Philatelic Union List. It reminds me a little of the 1936 Reference Album of Philatelic Terms that Scott published and I mentioned on my stamp collecting blog a few years ago. This brief album was "designed so that a stamp serving as an example may be mounted opposite each term listed. When all the spaces are properly filled, the result will be a very comprehensive reference collection." To that end, the first 2 pages were devoted to "Perforations and Roulettes," and included Common, Clean Perf, Rough Perf, Hyphen Hole, Lozenge Perf, Pin Perf, Sewing Machine Perf, and Part Perf. The other sections are Printing (Engraving, Typographing, Lithographing) including such terms as Se tenant and Moire, followed by "Paper," then "Philatelic Terms," such as Double Surcharge, and finally, "Do Not's: Things which are to be avoided in forming a stamp collection."
