So in 1947, the first year of independence, only three stamps were issued?? Most impressive collection. Congrats. |

Tiki Welcome to SCF! Very nice collection! Are they all mint never hinged? Why did you first choose to collect India? Just curious. Daniel |

Is there a particular dealer that you bought these MNH stamps from?

Hi,
Just for further information regarding INDIA Collection, I hope it would not be out of place. I am from India Migrated to USA in 1973. so learned Stamp Collecting thorough news paper and Hobby shops. I started Collecting Stamps in 1955 when I was Last year of High School. Collection Shown here is Mint, Never hinged, Original Issues. I did single one First so that if I make Album I have easy way. Used,Pairs,Blocks and sheets and duplicates, I have not yet arranged. As started in 1955 I do have some re Independence Stamps some mint mostly used ones. Mint collection it till to date. since (?1976-1978) 1979 Sheets I have. These are Mint Never hinged. Do you think I should scan single and Put it together ? Next will come 1993 to 2011 India, than will work on USA,Canada and UNO. a lot I learned here at SCF and still lot to learn.

Hi ramanandn, Salam, Namaste, Jaise Krishna, Sat Shirkal As I am living in USA did not have chance to see or meet any Dealer. I always like to see stamp in person and buy if at all I want to buy from Dealer in India (no offense to anybody) at present in India tred is to follow Phila India catalog. and if you see prices I get gasp. Most of my stamps are from Post Office. only in 1979 had local Philatelic exhibition in Ahmedabad. some Stamps I purchased there. Next I visit home I will look for some local collectors and my be Dealers. I am life member of Ahemdabad Philatelic Association. just for your information ramanandn. Dhanayavad Cheers! |

Hello tilkithindi, Very nice collection, I hope to create one someday :)
I see that you mentioned there were no commemorative stamps in 1949 but I see that there were 4 UNIVERSAL POSTAL UNION stamps issued that year.
Am I missing something? Please advice.
Thanks! |
