Hi I have just stated collecting the Netherlands Indies to go with my 1946/50 Indonesian collection. the second issue 1870-88 Sc #3 to 16 can anyone explain the difference between the term for the perfs IE perf 14 large hole , and perf 14 small hole an image would be a great help if possible? Thanks snowy
Hi Jogil, According to my NVPH Speciale Catalogus both perforations were used during the same time span, 1870-1890. But not at the same time. If you'd like I can give the timeline for the variety of perforations
Small hole perforations were used from 1870 to 1874. large hole perforations from 1875 till 1890.
The exception:
There was 1 time, 1884-1887 when the small hole perforation was used again. This was for both the Dutch Indies and Dutch stamps of that time, which were printed and perforated at he same printers in the Netherlands. Maybe for capacity reasons?
