Hello all,

I just got these in the mail today and have been at work so have not had a chance to look anything up. Any help with ids would be appreciated, or any other information: especially on the overprints. I'm wondering if the skull one is a fake, or propaganda stamp as well.

First two are from the pre-war mostly German populated Sudetenland area in Czechoslovakia; the first from Konstantinsbad (currently Konstantinovy Lazne in the Czech Republic), the second Reichenberg (Liberec). If genuine these stamps have a quite high cat. value, but I cannot say whether they in fact are genuine or not.

The skull overprint I'm unfamiliar with.

The collage of stamps are from German occupied Bohemia and Moravia (the remainder of Czechoslovakia after the Nazis annexed the Sudetenland). Nothing really valuable there.

The last overprint is another which I do not recognize.

Tinus thank you so much. I have been on a learning tour of Sudetenland online. However I cannot really find these particular two stamps or the others you were unsure of as well.

I have the Scott's. Catalogues but cannot seem to find anything on these. I found some similar online with Micheal numbers but I do not have those: yet. Could someone tell me where to look for these in Scott's?

Until I do more research I will not have a clue on these being genuine or not. I just picked these up because of the skull stamp. I believe I paid seven dollars for all these plus some others I already knew what they were and value. I knew I did okay on the price but what is the value on those two. I found a couple similar but the prices range from 40.00 to over a thousand.

Thanks again you helped me a lot and got me started learning some new subjects.

You're welcome.

Can't help you with the Scott numbers I'm afraid, for my own German collection I only use the Michel. Here's what it says (assuming all your stamps are the real thing):

Sudetenland overprints:
After the German takeover of the Sudeten area on October 1st 1938, for the first few weeks Czechoslovakian stamps were used (until October 19th). The Sudeten Nazi party overprinted a batch of these with the overprints and sold them to postal agencies. Genuine postal use of these overprints is very rare. Your two stamps have, if genuine, a catalogue value of EUR 240 (the 1Kc lilac stamp depicting Tomas Masaryk), and EUR 40 (the greenish 50h legionar stamp).

Bohemia and Moravia:
From 1939, the 1Kc (depicting Prague castle): value EUR 0,20
From 1941, the 3Kc (Pernstejn castle): value EUR 0,20
From 1942, the 2,50Kc (Hitler head): value EUR 0,20
From 1942, the 10Kc (Hitler head): value EUR 0,30
From 1943, the 60h (stamp day): value EUR 0,50
From 1943, the 60+140h (Hitler in Prague): EUR 0,30
From 1943, the 120+380h (Hitler in Prague): EUR 0,30
As you can see, collecting Bohemia and Moravia, and getting it complete, is quite feasible.

Been searching for those two elusive overprints, but no luch thusfar.

Thank you again Tinus.

Well I guess I did better than I thought with this lot if they are genuine. I really love the history of the German eras. I have quite a few but have not done much sorting and numbering yet.

I will have to be getting those catalogues for sure now. Ill start looking for some used ones.

You have been a great help and teacher. I really appreciate all your efforts.

This is my only Sudetenland stamp. It is listed in Michel as Rumburg #9, "Wir find frei" overprint. Under magnification the cancel appears to be over the overprint. However, the date looks suspicious. If 25 is the year date, the stamp is a forgery, as they were issued during WWII.

Hello BeeSee and welcome to the thread. Very nice. I wonder if the the 45 on the bottom could be the year/date? I am not sure with the "x" being in the cancel next to the other numbers. Maybe 25th of 5 1945? Also interesting mark on the far right of the cancel.

Thanks.

Last one local issue (overprint) from Mühlberg (1945: Blut und Tranen seine Saat sein Wirken war nur Missetaat). This one (12 pf) has lowest CV. Set of 15 (or 16) stamps.
And here some more information about overprints:
