Hi everyone, I wonder if anyone can help please.
My Father and Auntie both passed away last month and subsequently my Sister and I have been sorting belongings etc. A challenge in itself!
We have come across the most wonderful stamp collection in a book which is all the countries in the world A - Z and there are stamps (ALOT OF THEM) from the early 1900's through WW2 (a number of them showing Hitler) and from countries I have never heard of before. Looks so well looked after and I'm sure is incredibly valuable to the right person.
My question: Where would I go to have something like this valued please?? I live near Cardiff and my Sister in South Devon, my Father and Auntie lived in North Devon. Help pleeeease?!
Regards,
Steve

Good morning Steve,
Firstly, my condolencies on your bereavements.
Quickest way to get an opinion on your collection is to post a few pictures, as is a popular saying over here. There will be no shortage of responses, I am sure.
There will also possibly be a stamp club somewhere near you where you could get advice, people are always willing to help. I am in North Wales, so too far away unfortunately!
But please, don't start spending a windfall from the album just yet, as a lot of early stamps are very common, and so not worth a great deal.
Have a look on ebay, under stamps, for albums and collections, to get a rough idea of what some collections can sell for.
All the best, and post those pics! Oh, and welcome to SCF!

Welcome Steve!
The key is to take your time and know what you have. And then you can decide if you even want to part with it because stamp collecting is contagious! I hope you stick around and post lots of scans & photos of your newly found stash and I'm absolutely positive that we will be able to help in some form or fashion! Again,
-Jeff

Welcome to the forum Steve

As mention before, images would help.

Keep in mind though that old stamps are not a naturally expensive when value is taken into consideration. Some very old stamps are worth only pennies but, some do have the potential for being expensive. Also keep in mind that condition is the be-all and end-all for the stamps, as it is for any given collectible hobby.
