Hello. In looking through my album, I found a Straits' Settlement #10 (or 40) with a different overprint. It is a very, very light blue, inverted, and appears to be "E&L APORE". I don't think it is a cancel. I have copied the original image, and an inverted picture with false colors to try and show it correctly. Any help would be appreciated.

Definitely looks like a commercial overprint.

I found this page that lists some of the overprints :
http://www.cosgb.org/stset.htm

I will email him with yours if you don't mind as it does not seem to be listed there.

Drew

I think it is, "John Little and Co"
with E and Co showing.

Well, thank you very much to everyone for their response to my question on this overprint. It was very informative and definitely something to keep for future reference. I am a long time collector, but only a recent poster, so as I come up with more questions, I'll be sure to post them here. I have much of the reference books, but still occasionally find something I can't identify. I guess Great-Grandmas collection can get quite interesting. Thanks again.

You are so lucky, to have such a thing as
a Great Grandma Stamp Collection.
It must be a real experience working on a collection
that has remained in the family.

BTW the last two of my scans are possibly a variant,
they appear to be commercial overprints, but the stamps used
fiscally, not postally.

E&Co is omitted on the site shown, the stamp shown with John Little & Co. I believe to be placed there in error. It does not match the other John Little issues!

Apore is short for Singapore!

Hi all, I am a new collector and I am wondering whether anyone here knows anything about this "Union Postale Universelle" Straits Settlements Post Card (3 Cents; overprint 2 Cents), i.e. Price in market and background? Thank you very much~
