Edit: 10 Dec, 2013 Title change and edited for tagging KaBe Briefmarken Album Tag der briefmarke Michel MiNr-513 I went a little overboard this past weekend when I saw these blocks with Ka-be and "Stamp day" labels. I think I bought all the seller had to offer, but might have missed a lot or two. Anyways, I paid $75 for everything you see here. I'd love it if anyone could shed some light on the purpose of the cinderella labels. Thanks! Brian

These were a private overprint by Kabe to commemorate Stamp Day 1937. The alternating designs are "Tag der Briefmerke 10.1.1937" (Stamp Day 10 Jan 1937) and "KA-BE Briefmarken-Alben allen voran" (Kabe -- the premiere stamp album). The underlying stamp is Michel 513. The overprints were printed in sheets of 10x10. The non-overprinted stamps were processed by the Reichspost as valid postage. The overprinted stamps were not considered valid postage. And no, the sheet's not mine. It's from Michel's Markenheftchen catalog. The full sheets are hard to come by. |

Those three HB panes alone catalog for €72/€120 (MH/MNH), and I think the Allied booklet and 24 pfennig pane are probably about a €60-70 catalog. You did well! |

Quote: The full sheets are hard to come by. I have no doubt! Over the past two years, I have only come across a few pairs/blocks of these, and these are the first multiples with more than 4 stamps I have seen. The last image has a plate block of 9 stamps that I am certain is difficult to come by. I didn't even bother looking these up ... I decided I had to have them at whatever my budget would allow. Even if I paid twice catalogue, I have no regrets! Brian |

Michel doesn't list a price for these for some reason. They list all the different combinations of pairs, trios, and blocks of four, but no prices.
I saw a full sheet about 10 year ago. Unfortunately it was during my poorer years so I had to let it go. Haven't seen one since. |

A follow-up to this post.
I took some of these blocks with me to our stamp club this past Saturday. I sold two blocks for more than what I paid for the lots pictured above. I'm keeping the plate block and two blocks with top margin labels for my own collection. I'm certain the remaining two blocks will sell with ease :)

I recently acquired two more lots of these stamps including blocks of 16. These are the biggest multiples I have seen yet! Rest assured, I would jump at the opportunity to purchase a full sheet should one ever present itself, PostmasterGS! I mentioned previously that I sold two of the blocks I had previously acquired. I got $50/ea for blocks of 9. I now have sellers remorse! These will remain with me until the end of my days :) |

I recently saw a sheet of these on ebay that were missing only a block of 4. I resisted the urge. Barely. |

Alright, Brian. It took forever, but guess what I found? I found it on the German ebay. It was actually relatively cheap, mostly because it's not in great shape -- there's considerable separation on several of the edge perfs. But still, the first intact sheet I've seen up close. |

That is a great looking sheet,Postmaster, congrats. The light brown and the black and white seem to go together.
Was the overprint also via typography or litho?
Any chance to see a close up of just one label?
I'm surprised that the Reich Post Office allowed this obliteration of the former President's head and somehow doubt they would have done it on Hitler's 3 pfennig stamp.

lithograving, I'm guessing typography, but I'm no expert on printing methods. Here's a link to a high-res shot of one of the overprinted blocks (posting a link so it doesn't show up huge on the forum page). |

Thanks for the link PostmasterGS.
When I saw the smaller pics I thought that the writing and the letter of the label where printed in white.
Now I see that the overprint is only in black since I can see the brown of original colour.
