In reference to the possible orientation of a watermark on a stamp, Bujutsu quoted

Quote:
My understanding is that the positions of the watermark depends on: A - How the sheet was fed in to the printing machine process...

This process is true.
Here's an example with a 6 cents Large Queen that shows the "diamond grid" in a horizontal perspective compare to the 3 cents which "diamond grid" is vertically oriented

thanks Bujutsu, when I'll get to bed tonight, I will be more intelligent!

I never ever thought I would go that far in studying the Queens.
This forum is inspiring to reach another level. Thanks to the generosity of the people who do not hesitate to share their knowledge

When looking for these things I usually try and picture what I'd like to see and it helps to visualize if there is something there. Your example was easier with that big O in the middle to think about the whole word Bothwell and then see the pcs of the B and T even though they are mirrored. Same with looking for stitch watermarks-- Almost have to have it in your head before looking since they an be so hard to capture - Of course when a cancel shows through it can mess you up as well.

Very informative thread ! Ok, I see what you mean from my previous post. The Bothwell one would be stamp number 2 ? I'll take a closer look.
