Here's a tattered and stained little cover utilizing a MR4 Die I George V War Tax stamp. Postmarked Tilbury Ont. June 19, 1918.

Contents included a letter, this quaint handbill and two tickets to the upcoming Lawn Social "under the auspices of the Tilbury East Farmers' Club"

Tilbury is a small farming community in South Western Ontario, nestled between Lakes Erie and St. Clair.

I have a small collection of the War Tax stamps on cover and loose stamps as well. They are an interesting study all on their own.

Billigs produced a handbook on these stamps listing the different varieties etc. It is long out of print but I believe still available from reputable reference book dealers. Possibly online too (?)
