Andy: Have you heard of the Ukrainian Weekly? http://www.ukrweekly.com/

They have many articles about Ukrainian stamps.

I used it heavily. I have exchanged emails with Ingert Kuzich. Excellent resource.

EDIT: Here's a PDF of the March 7, 1999 issue of Ukrainian Weekly. Go to page 9 and you can read the Vienna Issue article with all the pictures!

1992-1993 Provisional Pages are in a state where I am asking for proofreaders from the SCF. I Just sent a copy off to Bohdan Hrynyshyn for his approval. Since he let me use his text, I figured I should get his blessing before I put them on my blog.

I ask any SCF people using my pages to please look over this PDF for typos, and if you have any of these stamps, stick 'em in a mount and make sure they fit in the box.

This link will be good for 3 days:

To download, go under File->Download and it will download the PDF for you.

Okay, you asked for my honest opinion:

I think these pages are GREAT. Excellent work!

But I do have a couple of notes.

Since your other pages are written in American English, I think these pages should be too. So I would change words like colour to color.

When I write articles, I try to avoid parentheses when I can. I Would change "These strips ( 60mm wide ) were then cut into sections of 10 stamps each" to "These 60 millimeter wide strips were then cut into individual sections of 10 stamps."

Also when using parentheses close them in: (24 x 28mm) or (24 by 28mm)
not ( 24 by 28 mm ). No space before the 2; after the 8 or after the second m. You did it correctly here: Stamps were 1 krb (May 1992), 3 krb (May 1992), 10 krb (June 1992), 20 krb (June 1992), 30 krb -(June 1992), and 50 krb (June 1992). Also the parentheses are appropriate choice for adding the date.

No dash needed between the 30 krb and the (June 1992) even when going to a new line because you already have a space between the 30 krb (June 1992).

Of course these are only suggestions.

After all, I'm the onlyiest guy who ain'ts gots no gooderest english and I arenst not even gots that!

I also notice the header says Kiev and the description says Kyiv. Need to fix that.

When writing articles I agonize over the wording, trying to use the proper English. In school I did very well in my English classes, but that was a very long time ago.

I really don't want to appear like I am picking apart what you have written, but I will offer some suggestions:

Kiev Series II
Variety 2

In February 1992, postal authorities in Kyiv prepared the second series of provisional stamps for Kyiv and its surrounding areas.

The word its after "Kyiv and" is unnecessary. You've already mentioned changing the Kyiv to Keiv.

Kiev Series II
Variety 2

Later in 1992, Postal Authorities reprinted some of the values. These new provisionals were similar to Variety 1. Using their postal meter machines, black imprints were made on smooth white paper strips. These strips were then cut into sections of 10 stamps each. The width of these strips are uneven. Each stamp has a relief on the reverse side. Under fluorescent light, the stamp gives a dull violet colour. Each stamp is imperforate and rectangular ( 24 by 28 mm ) in size. The paper is 0.06 mm thick.

Multiple short sentences appear choppy. Perhaps wording it like this would be better.

Using their postal meter machines, black imprints were made on smooth white paper strips and were cut into sections of 10 stamps. The widths of these strips are uneven and each stamp has a relief on the reverse side. Under fluorescent light the stamps give a dull violet color. Individual stamps are imperforate and rectangular; 24 by 28mm in size and 0.06mm thick.

If you keep the wording as is, this sentence "The width of these strips are uneven." Needs to be changed to "The widths of these strips are uneven." or "The width of these strips is uneven." "Under fluorescent light the stamps gives a dull violet color." Needs to be changed to "Under fluorescent light the stamp gives a dull violet color." or "Under fluorescent light the stamps give a dull violet color."

Kiev Series II
Variety 5

The higher denominations were implemented to deal with higher postal rates.

My professors would get on me about what they called "Cheap Words" or almost slang wording. Perhaps this would be better:
The higher denominations were implemented to accommodate the higher postal rates.

The above suggestions could be used in each series.

I hope this helps.

All the wording is directly from ukrainian-philately.info. To be honest, I have't checked it for good grammar, so any help is great. I'll try and clean it up tonight, after I finish planning a cub scout meeting.
