I don't know much about China stamps, but enough to know that these are mostly very usual stamps... but, maybe, who is more familiar with them, will see something I didn't...

Taking a quick glance, yes I would say the bulk of the financial value is probably on the last 3 pages, although I like many of the stamps on the earlier pages. Given the speculative nature of PRC stamps, condition is everything.

Most of the stamps on the last 3 pages will retail for a few US dollars each. However, most of your stamps are short sets. The last page is a full set of 6, and will retail about $20 if in VF condition and no faults. The only other stamp value that caught my eye would be the 20f panda stamp, which will also retail about $20. The rest of the stamps on those 3 pages, probably cat $1-$5. Short sets have significantly less value, though.

One stamp, although not particularly valuable, did catch my eye. The bottom left stamp on the 4th page ($1500 commemorating anniversary of founding of Chinese Communist Party). It was issued in 1949 in the Northeast Liberation Area. While it is not of significant catalog value, I don't see it very often for some reason. Thanks for posting the pic!

I didn't check all the stamps carefully, so there might be a surprise item in there.

k

I do believe our member Zhang was looking for that airmail set as he had buyers but not sure of values or overprints. I tossed a somewhat bigger lot but pretty close to what you have posted, on ebay about 6 months ago. Started at $99 and ended up with $101 and that was not knowing really what was there. Now have another bunch like this I hope to get same or more for. When something is as hot as PRC its a good time to sell unless you plan on dumping alot into it to collect.

Thanks, Nitrorules. Unfortunately, this set of airmailes is worthless (as far as I know), because the key value (50.000 on yellow overprint) is missing, an that is one which gives a high value to the set.

However, I am not so familiar with Chinese stams, but these airmails don't have too many variants...

Hello ZhangCheng! I don't have the stamps from April any more... I didn't sell them, I just gave them away to a friend...

Btw. if you are familiar with the Chinese revenues, you will possibly know something about this vertical strip of 3... I already posted it in the BOB subforum:

You friend should buy you a drink, that was a great gift.

About your China revenue stamps, I never seen these before, but I have checked on internet, an used piece of 30 cents sold for CNY280(about US$44) in 2012, here is the link about that and a picture from the sale£º

The Chinese characters approximately mean "The revenue of liquor made by machine selling in whole Zhili Province", the exact is just the English words on the stamp "Zhili Province Foreign Wine Tax Stamp".

Zhili Province was the name of Hebei Province before 1928.

www.ebay.com/itm/190658442819

It is strange that no more info available about them on the internet...

Same in China online searching, no more info available even for the basal introduction.

From your link of a sale in April last year, there were 3 different such stamps in that whole page, a set? (By the way, how to find the sale result on ebay for the item sold in April, 2012? I only know how to find the results in past 3 months.)

This may be a specialist area, still be researching and summarizing. Or already have substantial publications but for high cost just few people can own and read.

I used a Google search for the "Foreign Wine Tax Stamps", and that auction was the only one found. An ebay listing usually dissapears after 3 months of the and of the auction (it is an ebay rule), and, why this one stayed available for almost 1 year - it is a mystery to me. But,I am glad for that, because I found some info that way.

However, I contacted the seller, who is a very kind and helpful person (I think that he will also come here on SCF), and he helped me with his knowledge about this matter. He also doesn't know too much about the history of these stamps, but, he has an old (almost 100 years) listing of Chinese revenues, on which these stamps appeared.

They are 3 values - 5, 15 and 30 for sure, and possibly 1 and 10 cts. 5cts seems to be very rare, and, in the unused condition they are even not known to exist.

Did that ebay seller tell you the 5c is rare? We must need an evidence to prove it.

From his experience with this stamps - yes... however, he doesn't have any catalog of them.

Also, in the description of the auction he specified: "...are all rare in any condition especially the low values, 5 and 10 cents."

15 and 30 cents are more usual.
