My Grandfather was stationed in China , pre-WWII. Since Grandma
was with him, she collected quite a few stamps from the area.
However, since early China is notorious for counterfeits, I would like
to see if anyone has an opinion on this item. (If not real, it looks
like a very good copy.) I have many of the other earlier issues and
will post if anyone is interested in seeing counterfeits.

Bayern. Thanks for posting your copy. Side-by-side, definitely
differences in line thicknesses, but not much else ... all of the lines
seem to be in the right places, and the underlying stamps don't appear
to have any issues.

Rugg. Sorry, but I don't have any counterfeit overprints. (At least
none that I have found so far ... I'm going to check again.) My
counterfeits involve all of the early issues. Here are a few
examples that a dealer took one look at and quickly said, "Yeah,
they're fake."

China 2a, 19 and 24.

Anybody know if there is a market for fakes? Should be worth a few
dollars at least?

Thanks for the confirmation. I'm sure they are at least 80 years
old, but fakes are fakes.
