I got stamps from my greatgrandfather I belive these to be postally used how do I verify that, I have extras and I am planning on listing them on ebay I see they go for 1.50 each I just want to know if there is a way to tell if they are ctos, I also think I hace the 200 dollar stamp listed in the lot, why is it so high and what detracts from its value?

The first is very common used, so the value and risk of CTO are minimal.

The watermark is what distinguishes Scott 137 (used Scott value $1.75) from Scott 161 (used Scott value $200).

However, because of rampant CTOing of 161s after the fact, Michel and Scott both warn against buying used 161s without expertization.

My point being that (1) if you truly want to find out if it's CTO you'll need to get an expert opinion, and (2) should you try to sell it, don't expect to get the used value without expertization.
