Okay guys.. first of all, Bobby, I loved your comments on the CCF link you posted...
Everyone else, please tell me how IE has anything to do with email?
It is not an email client. Are you talking about outlook express?

Stallzer, don't knock IE to bad, at the last hackers forum, they were able to break security on browsers in this order... chrome, firefox and IE.
No browser is 100% secure and using IE's default settings will keep you away form most bad pages. Having said all that, I use FF as my primary browser.

I mentioned IE in a throwaway comment. It was not intended as a comment on the e-mail side of things. The problem with IE is not security or e-mail related. It's that IE is not standards compliant, which frequently causes webpages to render improperly.

Postmaster...
Which standard are you talking about?
I know IE has 'extra' functions, but currently there are at least three frameworks for browsers.
Currently IE has the largest user base and provides the richest user experience, so it will continue to grow as HTML5 is adopted.

I'm talking about html, xhtml, and css standards-compliance. IE9 (and to a lesser degree IE8) is vastly improved, but earlier versions are a trainwreck.

I agree that IE6 and below had severe issues. It also has the largest user base, so people had to code for it.
Also IE has always had the longest/largest set of java framework types.
And since there are only 3 browser bases. Webkit, Gecko and Trident, there is not much more that can be built.
Unfortunately the big three, Apple, Google and MS all use one of the 3 browser bases, and aren't likely to settle on one.
So, guys like us, who write webs sites have to make our websites as compatible as possible.

Not for much longer.

That certainly depends on who you ask. Ask me you say? Firefox blows IE away in every aspect.

Haven't look at the trend lately have you?

Keep in mind this trend has been continuing for a least a year despite the fact that IE is pre-installed as the only browser on at least 95% of all PCs sold. The sheep people have to go out of Their way to download a different browser and IE's still dropping like a stone.

Wow, I am surprised by this chart...
I didn't realize that Chrome is being used so much.

btw.. at the black hat convention, chrome was the first browser compromised.

Toms Hardware ranked the browsers back in April of 2010 (I didn't look too hard for recent reviews) and IE finished dead last.
