Hi, can anyone tell me why is this 1/2 penny green King George V stamp considered a rare. I have about 4 of them exactly identical to the ones said as rare. If it is so rare,I dont think I could have 4 in my collections. Does it have anything to do with some markings beyond natural eyesight or am I missing a point or 2 here.Would appreciate any advise or opinions.Thanks.

Floortrader, Check out at golden rarities and it is stated there as rare.Numerous ebay pages too are saying it rare. Please read my first post, I am also asking why is it rare.So pls dont throw the question back at me why it is rare. I have no idea myself. |

SELVA-----I have a few hundred of them and would be happy to get 2 cents each for them. I have already sorted them for shade varieties and inverted watermarks ,it is a very common stamp of no value. |

I don't know what's going on with the one listed at Golden rarities. As Floor trader mentioned it must be a rare perf or something with the color or watermark, they don't have any info on it. These are basically a dime a dozen and 99.9% of the ½ d Stamps are worth 2¢. |

Its not rare,it looks like a website made to get people to other sites and many here don't have a interest, especially its link to adult sites like the "Romania Bikini Club" and other sites ...sorry not worth linking or discussing here .... |

Hi Selva
I one posted an article showing all the variations in the greens. There is one green colour that is very rare. You have more chance winning the lottery with out a ticket than finding the rare green shade which sells for thousands of dollars. I will hunt the article out again and post it on this thread Horamakhet |

The rare ½d is the Cyprus green of 1914, SG 355 - apparently a very yellow green. In the 2012 Gibbons, it's listed at £8000 mint. |

Thanks Selva for this post. Since we are on this topic in this thread I didn't want to start another to ask my question. I`m curious as to how many shades of green there are in these series? I picked out some from my collection. Are there two different shades in this lot or more than two? Anyone? Thanks! Ann |

Hi Selva, and Hi to all As promised here is the Stanley Gibbons article on the half penny George V This is how many shades have been identified so far. I believe the rare shade turned up recently and sold for many thousands of pounds Regards Horamakhet |
