Quick tip: After you list a large number of items, run through all the listings on
ebay within the gallery view to make sure each item has a working photo. I host my own photos (
ebay picture service is for the birds) and if an item has more than one picture I add suffix letters to the picture number. Occasionally, I'll leave off that suffix letter or add one where not needed and I won't have a gallery image. A quick view will let you know if you messed up.
I also use the same picture number per item as the item number in my own organization of listed stock. I can right-click the photo in the description to get that number and quickly find it in the stock. I also verify the pulled item with the picture on the screen. Since I've been using that system for a number of years I haven't had any problems of missing or sending the wrong item.
ebay sometimes will scramble the
ebay item numbers in the invoice which can make it a pain when it comes to long invoices. It will make picking a bit longer as none of the personal numbers will be in order. Delcampe is much better at keeping things in order.
I still make the occasional error and to err is human. It's going to happen. Just correct them as you find them and hopefully find them sooner than later. I like it if a buyer messages me about a mistake in my listing as well as it can be hard to catch everything and I know I don't know everything.
Side note: About 9 years ago I sold a mint copy of the U.S. $2 Harding Prexy stamp. I listed it as mint never hinged, but I didn't see that it was really mint very lightly hinged. After I got it back from the original refunded buyer I could see that it was indeed very lightly hinged, but you had to have the right light at the right angle to see it - couldn't even see it with a regular back scan. I relisted it as mint lightly hinged and it actually sold for a lot more than the first time around. Go figure.
