Here is a Fiji King George V definitive stamp. The base stamp is 1sh, die II (I think the watermark is wmk. 3, but the crown and letters are not distinct enough for me). (By the way, I use the Scott catalog.) The stamp has been canceled with four crossing pen strokes and a vertical green line from a wax pencil. What I also find interesting is the overprint. The stamp already serves double-duty as a postage stamp and a revenue stamp, so why did the authorities feel it necessary to obliterate "Postage" and overprint a giant "R" on it? I would like to know what information other SCF members have about this stamp.
Regards, Robert

Here is a thread from a few years ago, where I posted one of mine:

(I've since acquired a second, better looking example.)

Rod includes the details from Barefoot.

Nice scan.

Interesting combination of cancels. Black overprint (R), black ink Xs and green crayon (wax pencil?). I agree, nice scan.

Thanks for your replies. I always forget to search SCF before posting a topic like this one.

And, crayon and wax pencil can refer to the same thing. I thought Crayon was a brand name (so didn't want to use it in my post), but according to my dictionary, it's "a stick of colored wax, chalk, or charcoal used for drawing." I stand corrected.

Cheers, Robert
