Thanks for posting. I got a similar e-mail about those "sale" items, too.
I just wonder why there is a sale right now and why they have so many 2011 US Specialized catalogs still in stock. Either they overprinted the quantities needed or the demand for them is diminishing, as most collectors know that there is so little change in content from year-to-year, a new catalog every FEW YEARS is all that is really needed by most collectors.
Considering that the prices for these catalogs have gone up this past year, I suspect that their sales volumes are down and with used catalogs available from many sources at considerably reduced prices from new ones, I suspect they are feeling the pinch from collectors who are objecting to their recent price increases.
I bought the US Specialized on my iPad when it was released. I wonder if a lot of people were holding out for the iPad release and there are just too many paper copies lying around now. I know the iPad version is a way better deal for the people that live overseas, since shipping the Scott catalog can get quite expensive.
I jumped on this sale last week, since my US albums are really half of my collection. I've got Unitrade for the Canadian side. Took delivery of a 2012 Scott's Specialized today and am thrilled. Been taking a 2008 out of the library perioldically, now I'm FREE!. Can look up anything I need at any time. Was told ages ago that this was the catalogue I'd need for my US collection, so now I'm golden. Still need a Van Dam for those pesky Canadian revenues, then I'm all set.
Just thought I'd gloat. Now back to your normal programming.
