I am looking at my nice lighthouse binders in their slipcases and am trying to figure out how to label the outside. I don't want to use some ugly white label.

So, for those of you with binder labels - Post pics if you can, I need ideas!

(My cheap-o binders for my manila stock sheets and my sorting sleeves is using the ugly white labels...)

Nobody has any label ideas? - I was thinking of maybe getting inkjet "clear" labels and printing in maybe a gold color to match against the green of the lighthouse album. Not sure how it would look though

These are the kind of binders I have:

Three ideas for you:
On the first one, I got some sheets of peel-and-stick letters from Micheal's Art Supply and put them on the spines of some binders/boxes I have. I used letters on some, numbers on others. You can peel them up with a pair of pointy stamp tongs and place them where you want. Applying tape and pulling will remove them. This is good if you have a bunch you want to keep in order, but you probably will need to make a "key" to tell you what is where:

For some other binders, I got some clear label holders (from a photo supply house) and printed little pictures to put in them. I decided that I liked the pictures instead of text. Hey, I know what the pictures mean, and that's all that's important, right? If you're using them for stamp albums, you can pick any stamp image(s) to represent the contents and print it, either on a clear label or on paper and slide into such a holder.:

Lastly, you can get gold foil labels at the office supply store and print on them in black. Labels such as these:

Hope this gives you some more ideas.
C.

Chip, where'd you get those binders in the first photo? That's the kind of look I'd like for my albums. Are they still available?

This is semi-related. With my side specialty of State of New York Stock Transfer Tax Stamps, I have accrued over the last decade somewhere between ten and twenty thousand of them.

They have gradually been sorted, cataloged, separated by perfins, special punch cancel, engraving varieties, blocks of multiple, etc - you get the idea.

Only in the last year did I think of a useful way to put to use hundreds of damaged, soiled, torn, and over-canceled stamps - I made them into a collage and labeled the covers with a sharpie pen (I know, enough to make you cringe when you hear a sharpie pen and permanent clear tape was used - but I have many more thousands where these came from.)

It ended up being quite the colorful background for my first 3 stock books.

I also have binder edges similarly labeled for my actual true collection of these (not just the extra stock), but they are not handy to me right now. They were assemble with a little more care for better presentation along the edge of the binder (and using some higher quality examples of the stamps)

James:
They are actually not binders, but boxes that I use for the pages I make up (stored in mylar page protectors). Bought them in a little store in Florence. There were lots of paper/leather stores with binders, books, and boxes of similar styles available. When I was in Florence, the exchange rate was about $.80 per Euro, so they were reasonable. I imagine they are still available, but the gas and tolls, not to mention the current exchange rate, would probably make them less attractive.

These are what I use for my Lighthouse binders, based on an earlier post by angore (https://goscf.com/t/58114).

The last link posted on here isn't working for me, was hoping to link back to the post that inspired Walkman's binder labels. I click on it and it takes me to the Forum homepage.

I think the link has the parenthesis as part of the link, which kills it.

Traded some stamps for an old Minkus British Caribbean 2 post album, and recycled the album.

Old titles were cut off album and replaced. New Titles are hot foil stamped on black bonded/imitation leather.

Walkman,

I remember that thread. It was a nice presentation and I like your labels very much.

I try to emulate the design on the spine of the Scott National album. I make labels like these, modified to suit the binder.
