I must say that I never paid much attention to the UPU's WADP (World Association for the Development of Philately) Numbering System until recently, so I thought I'd share the link:

If you go to their "participating countries" link, images of stamps from the last 10 years from each postal authority are provided, which makes for a convenient identification process for new issues that may not always be in one's catalog as yet.

Although some countries, including the US, haven't provided images since 2010, I think it may still provide an interesting resource for collectors.
