I hinge previously hinged stamps and lower value definitives. To make my hinges last and maximize things, I've been known to cut the hinges in half lengthwise. Here in the Arabian Gulf, hinges and mounts are hard to come by and I have to order them by post. I also hinge some of my stamps that I have in mounts to make moving them easier at some point in the future.

I am waiting for the first collection mounted with the backs showing. Makes sense given the obsession with the backs of stamps!

Hello

So reading all post about this, I assume the Hinge do not cause foxing/rust/staining on stamps?

I stop using hinges when my stamp on my old album start to become damage. But now reading about this.
Checked my self-print albums and the stamps are not damage like my Old Album.

Wondering something on the paper are causing this and not the hinges?

Thank you
Fm

I've become unhinged.

Clear mounts

If the Dennison hinges were still around, no doubt I would still be hinged.

I actually like the look of a hinged page of stamps.

Unfortunately, hinging stamps using todays suppliers end up- for me -(Emphasis added) - like concrete.

A bonus: Upgrading a stamp in the collection while using mounts makes the substitution easy.

(My opinion)

The hinge does not cause foxing per se.

A mount might offer some protection against humidity and the environment that can lead to foxing/rust.

I'm with EricBismarck in using the Vario pages; good protection and flexible options on presentation.

I am a dedicated hinger,
alas, with the arrival of some early mint stamps
in one collection, with mini sheets with a value
over $60, I find I cannot hinge these, I feel it to be bad husbandry.
I now mix with those light mounts.
Not a good look but I feel better doing this.
