Here is an image of a semi-postal (charity) stamp depicting a mail coach, designed by German graphic artist and painter Erich Meerwald (1895-1973), combined engraved (vignette) and lithography (frame), and issued by Germany on January 10, 1943 for Stamp Day, Scott No. B215, Michel No. 828.

18th centtury mail coach on a Spanish revenue stamp. Issued in 1938 and overprinted in 1940.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting a stagecoach and a Roman States postage stamp, designed by Corrado Mezzana, engraved by Mazzini Canfarini, and issued by Vatican City on June 9, 1952 to commemorate the centenary of the city state's postage stamps, Scott No. 155.

In the USA, December 13 is "National Day of the Horse!"

"The First Stagecoach," designed by Catalan artist Sergi Mas Balaguer (1930- ), printed by lithography, and issued by Andorra (French administration) on May 15, 1999, Scott No. 508.

Mail coach and registered mail stamp, designed by Czech artist Oldrich Pošmurný (1942- ), combined engraved by Miloš Ondrácek and photogravure, and issued by Czechoslovakia on September 2, 1986 to commemorate the centenary of registered mail, Scott No. 2617.

Hope this comes out OK .. first image I have tried to scan from my semi-new printer/scanner - then trying to figure out how to crop properly, etc. ...

Here is an image of another stamp with an "Old and New" theme, depicting an airplane and a stagecoach, printed by photogravure (Waterlow & Sons, Ltd.), and issued by Uruguay on October 9, 1952 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union, Scott No. 600.

Hi Nethryk, Thanks for drawing my attention to this lovely thread! These are the September stamps of Germany and Switzerland commemorating the Lindauer Bote , a very special stage coach route which crossed the Alps, the route seen in the Swiss stamp. As one can see, there were often 5 horses doing the hard work, which took at least 5-6 days at best weather. I don't have the stamps of Liechtenstein and Austria yet. Nowadays this trip is a popular tourist attraction! Long ago it was the route of famous folks such as Mozart and Goethe.
