Hi apastuszack,

I very much like your US Heirloom page hacks. So much so that I am tempted to get the American Heirloom Collection 1847-1934 Album. The only thing I don't like is the three hole punching so that rules the binder out. Is it possible to buy the pages only in unpunched format from Mystic? Or in a CD file from them for printing off at home? I thought maybe you might know who to contact at Mystic regarding this.

Many thanks

Terry

You can buy the Mystic pages by themselves without binders, but they are three hole punched already.

How would you prefer they be punched?

Hi apastuszak,

I have 18 empty Stanley Gibbons buckram covered albums in new condition which take 8.5" x 11" size pages, same size as the Mystic pages. Only problem is they are 22 ring type. I can probably get unpunched pages punched out to 22 hole to suit, though. Unless, of course Mystic can do it for me.

So, I just finished "fixing" page 609, which broke up the Olympian and Indian Headdress se-tenant.

The files can he found here:

http://stamphacks.com/wp/?p=815

Here's a picture of the page

I have completely given up on the idea of taking the perfs off the image. Too much work for something that will be hidden once the stamp is mounted.

What is the Mystic Heirloom album like? I liked the Harris Liberty albums but I really dislike that the album doesnt lay flat when opened. I am still trying to pick an album to use for my US. I like how you are updating the album to fix the omissions!

I have the Mystic Heirloom Album. It's nice enough and the price point can't be beat. It does have rather flimsy binders (you can upgrade them or use your own) and the pages are a bit on the lightweight side, but all and all there's nothing that compares to it without at least doubling the cost -- and I'd rather spend my money on stamps than albums:

It's also quite easy to scan and "hack" the pages to fit your individual needs, as has been evidenced in this thread. In fact, I just modified Page 601 in order to provide a space for two Ferryboat varieties (2466 and 2466b) as the album page only provides a space for the 2466 variety.

I posted a review of the Mystic Heirloom stamp album a while back.

This thread reviews a number of different stamp albums. My Heirloom review is in there:

This is awesome! I love my heirloom album, but I always was frustrated when they split things up that shouldn't be. I will have to use these for sure, thanks!

How are you doing this (if you don't mind me asking)? I just came across a stamp that mystic left out, scott #1414a: the precanceled christmas stamp.

A ruler and a copy of Scribus. I can usually crank out a page in under 20 min.

This isn't to full size scale but I did this example merely by scanning to a jpg file and editing using MS Paint (and, of course, an online ruler). The border lines around the stamps come out much crisper and darker when printed out at full size:

Excellent! This will make the album look so much better. I just put my precancel next to the regular one but it doesn't look very nice. Thank you guys very much!

At the request of a member on another forum, I have hacked page 131. Scott #613, Warren Harding, has less than 40 known copies, and the last USED one that came up for auction went for close to $32,000. I would think the chance of you getting your hands on one is pretty slim.

So, I made a change to the page. You have two choices:

Scott #613 completely removed from the page, so you don't have to spend your life staring at an incomplete page.

Scott #613 placed as an image, in a mount over where 613 should go. The stamp is supposedly a picture of a real Scott #613.

You can get the PDFs and Scribus files here:

And I just finished hacking page 779 to keep the two triangle stamps connected as a se-tenant.

Files are here: http://stamphacks.com/wp/?p=917
