Quote: Now why is the 30sh seemingly cancelled with a Leipzig (Germany) cancel, in... 1945 ? I was gonna say it is a Kiev cancel. Until I saw the 20sh denomination. Now that is wierd. |

This is far-fetched, but this story comes to mind.
Older person in Ukraine has relative in Liepzig. They tack on an old Ukraine stamp on the envelope along with regular CCCP postage as a sign of patriotism. The Liepzig postmark looks like a receiving postmark, which is what inspires my . . . fantasy? |

Smauggie, could be possible. But I think the "REIC" may be for REICHSPOST. |

True. Does that mean it could not be a receiving cancel? Edit: I know we strive to come to know the philatelic reality of our material. When I come to a dead end, I resort to philatelic fantasy. I apologize for my fantastical interruptions. |

Actually Smauggie you could be correct. Those stamps are so cheap mint even today, and someone could have been using it as a label or seal, like a Christmas seal, and it got cancelled with regular German stamps beside it. I have seen that before with other countries.
The cancel does LOOK genuine. |
