In my last
ebay auction I had an interesting incident. Even before the auction was completely over, I had a buyer message me that he wanted to back out of a transaction because he didn't "see" the shipping price which was clear as day on the listing at 85 cents. I like to concentrate all my time on buyers who pay and get their orders out in a timely fashion so I didn't want to make any fuss over a 99 cent postcard. I went ahead and had
ebay request a transaction cancellation. I did my part and very quickly the buyer accepted it and I thought it was done and over with. It was a free listing so I didn't care as I didn't lose anything but time. The "buyer" at this point then contacted me and said he let positive feedback for me and asked that I do the same. I was a bit surprised as I thought
ebay would scrap our ability to leave feedback altogether, but sure enough he did leave me positive feedback. I really didn't know what to say as there wasn't any transaction in my mind and it really wasn't positive, but
ebay doesn't give you an option to leave anything else but positive feedback. So I checked out his feedback - it was a low number and definitely not perfect. I then checked out his other purchases - all low priced items usually with no shipping costs. He bought quite a few digital photos for 6 cents. Then I noticed some of the items he was trying to sell - high end "original" designer purses. His game was easy enough to figure out - he's buying feedback. The only person of last few hundred buyers I haven't bother to leave feedback. He did send a second request for feedback, but I'm ignoring it. No other communication for the last couple of weeks I hope it stays that way. Sometimes problems are best to ignore.
