I was going through my Danish definitives the other day, and I checked the back of the 10 ore orange stamps from the wavy lines series. One of them looked like it might have been on laid paper, which isn't listed in the Facit catalogue, so I scanned it to get a good look.

To my great surprise, the paper has a honeycomb pattern, Here's a close up of the top right corner:

Extraordinary, I think!

What type of scope are you using? That's pretty incredible how it picks up so much detail. I've been contemplating purchasing one and I like the results yours is picking up.

BTW-Couldn't this be a bonded paper?

Hi 597596. I just did this with a regular H-P scanner at 1200 dpi resolution.

With the naked eye I just saw vertical lines like some laid paper types that were used in the 19th century.

Without the scanner I would have had no idea about the hexagonal pattern.

I've never heard of bonded paper, but I don't know much about paper types. Is that something that was used on US stamps?
