I just purchased a lot of Newfoundland stamps from a reputable dealer and was wondering if they identified a stamp incorrectly. NF 148 is one of the stamps that came in this lot and I think its actually NF 166 or NF 175. The catalogue says that NF 148 should have six circles and the 4 should have horizontal and diagonal crossed lines. Too me its such a simple mistake . Does this kind of thing happen often when dealing with reputable dealers? The stamp has low value so I don't think it was intentional.
Carey, I can't speak to how ofter it occurs however in the past few months, it has happened to me twice on medium priced stamps (Great Britain seahorses). My advice is to check your purchases to verify that you receive what you expected to get. Whenever I find myself in this situation, I go back to the seller and so far I have been very satisfied with an adjustment in the selling price.
